In short: we collect as little as we can. Playlists from other providers never leave your device. The app sends crash reports only if you leave that switched on, and payments are handled by Stripe.
1. Who we are
"We" means the operator of Nura Player (the app, nuraplayer.uk, nuraeditor.org and the licence service). Contact: our Discord server.
2. What the app keeps on your device
Your playlists, favourites, watch history, settings, recordings and what Nura has learned about your viewing habits (used only to suggest channels) stay on your device. The playlist logins are stored encrypted on the device. Playlists from providers other than ours are never sent to us.
3. What is sent to us
- Licence check: when the app checks or activates your licence it sends your licence key or a device identifier, the app version and (only if your playlist is on our panel) the playlist login so we can recognise your account. We use this to unlock the features you are entitled to and to stop a licence being used on too many devices.
- Playlist account (nuraeditor.org): if you use it, we hold your playlist details, group choices and order so they can be shown on your devices.
- Guide, artwork and details: the app may ask our servers or third parties (for example a film database) for programme guide data, posters and descriptions. These requests contain the title being looked up, not your playlist login.
- Subtitles: if you choose to download subtitles, the title you are watching is sent to the subtitle service to find them.
- Crash and error reports: if "Send anonymous statistics" is on (Settings > About), the app sends crash and error reports with the device model, Android version and app version, with login details removed, to Google Firebase Crashlytics and to our own server. Switch it off and nothing is sent.
4. Payments
Stripe processes payments. We receive confirmation of a payment and a reference, not your card number.
5. The websites
nuraplayer.uk is a plain page with no advertising, no analytics and no tracking cookies. Our servers keep ordinary technical logs (such as your IP address and the page requested) for security and fault-finding, for a limited time.
6. Why we use data, and how long we keep it
We use it to run the licence, accounts, guide and updates, to keep the service secure and to fix faults. We keep licence and account records while they are active and for as long afterwards as we need for support, accounting and legal reasons. Error reports are kept for a short period.
7. Sharing
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We use service providers to run Nura (for example hosting, Stripe for payments and Google Firebase for crash reports), who may process data for us.
8. Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to or restrict how we use it, under UK data protection law. Deleting your playlist account removes the playlist details we hold for it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
9. Children
Nura is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect children's data.
10. Changes
We will update this page if what we do changes; the date above shows when.
