Guide

Choosing an IPTV player for Google TV, Android TV and Formuler

An IPTV player does not supply channels; it plays the playlist you bring and decides how pleasant that is to use on a TV with a remote. These are the things worth checking before you pick one.

What to look for

  • Playlist types it accepts. At minimum M3U links and Xtream Codes logins. Formuler owners may also need MAG portal support.
  • Built for the remote. Every screen should be reachable with the arrow keys and OK, with the focus always visible, and the player keys (zap, last channel, channel list) should be quick.
  • A fast TV guide. The guide is where you spend most of your time; it should open quickly and stay smooth with thousands of channels.
  • Catch-up and pause. Replay of recent programmes where your provider allows it, and pause and rewind on live TV.
  • Movies and series from the same login, with posters, ratings and continue watching.
  • Multi-view if you watch more than one channel at a time, for example sport.
  • Profiles and parental controls for a family TV, ideally with a PIN so one person cannot see what another is watching.
  • Regular updates and a clear statement that the app is a player only and sells no content.

How Nura Player approaches it

Nura is an IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV and Formuler boxes, with a simpler version for phones and tablets. You add your own M3U or Xtream playlist (or sign in with a MAG portal or by pairing a code), and Nura does not provide, host or sell any content.

  • TV guide in a grid with a live preview, catch-up where your provider keeps an archive, and pause and rewind on live channels.
  • Movies and series with posters and ratings, and continue watching that follows you between your devices.
  • Multi-view for watching several channels at once.
  • Sports Hub with today's matches, live scores and which of your channels show them (part of Nura Pro).
  • Profiles, each with an optional PIN, and parental controls.
  • Pricing: free for 7 days, then a one-time unlock of £20 for up to 5 devices. See pricing for the details.

Getting started

Install the app with the Downloader app on your TV box, then add your playlist: see how to add an IPTV playlist (M3U or Xtream). To understand the guide and replay features, read catch-up and the TV guide explained.

Nura Player is a player only. You are responsible for the playlists you add and for having the right to view them.
